Cultural Heritage

Kerala has a rich cultural heritage and have its own unique art forms like koodiyattom koothu, kadhakali,mohiniyatto,theyyom etc. All of this art forms are greatly appreciated by the tourists all over the world especially Kadhakali. In music also Kerala had great contributions.It was during the era of King Swathi thirunal karnatic music flourished and reached on the greatest heights.

Backwaters

The next attraction of Kerala is backwaters.The Kerala has a wide distribution of lakes and backwaters. Kerala has nearly forty rivers, and nearly 900 kms of navigable backwaters.Theese interlinked canals and lagoons were the important ways of transportation during the old days.The backwaters are highly rich in various species of fish,crabs,frogs ,tortoise and snails.Birds like king fisher and darters find ther nests along the thick forest and vegetation along the shores. The beautiful lane of palms and coconut trees along the shore is an excellent sight regarding the backwaters.House boat cruise through the backwaters is definitely an unforgettable and thrilling experience for a traveler.Kumarakom,’The Gods own Village’ and Allleppy the Venice of the east are equally famous for Houseboat cruises.

Houseboats

Houseboats or traditional Kettuvalloms were the major means of transportation during the early days before the development of roads connecting various remote village of alleppy and kuttanadu. They are in length varies from 95 feets to 105 feets and have a breadh of 12 – 15 feets.They are build of a particular wood called Anjily and roof is made of panambu ie bamboo sheets.The crew consists of a Driver,Cook and a helper. The food on board is really yummy , famous for non veg.A houseboat cruise in the Vembanadu Lake, enjoying the enchanting natural beauty, breathing the exhilarating cool breeze, watching the criss cross movements of rare birds, will turn out to be a thrilling experience. Wild life

Kerala has fourteen wildlife sanctuaries situated in various points. Kerala is bordered by western Ghats and is famous for its everlasting flora and fauna.It is also famous for different species of birds and animals. Bird sanctuary at Kumarakom is internationally renouned. Thattekka is the next important bird sanctuary famous for the presence of migratory birds. Other wild life sanctuaries are situated at ,Trivandrum, Trichur, Waynad, Kozhikode, and Kollam.

Hill stations

Hill stations are yet another attractions of Kerala.They offer spectacular views of nature. The important hill stations are Munnar, thekkady , ponmudy , vagamon, peerumedu, waynad etc .

Festivals

Kerala’s festivals are more colourful and celebrated by all peoples belonging to different religions.Onam is the national festival.Various art forms like puli kali,theyyam,pookkalam(flower arrangements) make the onam more joyful to the Keralites.Thousands of tourists from all over the word are coming to Kerala during the Onam season to enjoy the celebrations.

Spices

From the ancient times itself Kerala is famous for spices, especially for pepper,cardamom and cloves. Ginger ,turmeric, tamarind , nutmeg were also cultivated here.

Beaches & Water falls

Kerala is famous for its elegant beaches like Kovalam , Alapuzha, Kozhikode, Ernakulam etc. Kerala is gifted with a number of water falls through out the state. Athirappally, Vazhachal, Malampuzha, Aruvikuzhi, Thommankuthu, Ilaveezha poonchira, meenmutty, soochippara are some of them.

Climate

Kerala has a the tropical climate. The summer season starts from April. Mansoons comes by June. The ideal season is from September to may. For those who loves rain june july offers the best rains which they have ever seen!!! Temperature ranges from 20 to 33 degree during the whole season
